At the 9th Slovenian Economic Summit, which took place on October 14, 2014, Gorenje signed the document Slovenian Corporate Integrity Guidelines to join the ambassadors of corporate integrity. In addition to Gorenje, the document was signed by 27 other Slovenian companies: NLB, Lek, Zavarovalnica Triglav, Petrol, Telekom Slovenije, Slovenske železnice, Intereuropa, Kolektor Group, SKB, Domel Holding, Siemens, Pozavarovalnice Sava, Zavarovalnica Maribor, Luka Koper, ELES, Studio Moderna, RIKO, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Trimo, SID Banka, Elektro Maribor, BTC, InterEnergo, Steklarna Hrastnik, Vzajemna, Elektro Gorenjska, and Actual I.T.
By signing the document, the companies committed to honour and strengthen the corporate integrity in their operations and to promote the awareness of the importance of compliance with the legislation and the ethical standards as one of the key principles of socially responsible conduct in the Slovenian economy.
Upon signing, President and CEO Franjo Bobinac said: "Gorenje has always strived to observe and implement the highest standards of corporate governance. Looking to take it a step further, we adopted in late 2011, along with our Supervisory Board, the Code of Conduct which is based on the adopted guidelines of the IFC Corporation, yet includes most of the provisions included in the document that we signed today. Therefore, we support and welcome the signing of the Slovenian Corporate Integrity Guidelines. I firmly believe that we, along with other signatories – ambassadors of the guidelines, will contribute to an improvement of reputation of Slovenian companies. The highest possible transparency of business operations, honouring of corporate integrity, and especially continuous commitment to improvement of operations at all levels are the requirements that any company has to meet if it is to succeed in the long run."
The initiative for development of the guidelines came from the Ljubljana Faculty of Economics which teamed up with the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Managers' Association of Slovenia (Združenje Manager), and the Slovenian Director's Association (Združenje nadzornikov Slovenije). President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor is the sponsor of the guideline development.
The Slovenian Corporate Integrity Guidelines are based on the OECD Good Practice Guidance on Internal Controls, Ethics and Compliance. It offers Slovenian enterprises a set of guidelines as to what their own measures and activities should include in their pursuit of business conduct that is compliant with the legislation and ethical.
Several months ago, the portal "Slovenian Corporate Integrity" was set up as well. It includes many good practices of legal and ethical conduct, and information on the events and education courses dealing with corporate integrity.
