Gorenje launches mass production at the new cold appliance plant in Valjevo

Gorenje Group launched mass production at the new cold appliance plant in Valjevo, Serbia. This is Gorenje's second refrigerator-freezer facility in Valjevo. The first one was opened in 2006. The combined output of both plants for this year is planned at nearly 800,000. Investment into the new plant amounted to good EUR 21 million; the launch of mass production was on schedule.

Restructuring activities of manufacturing operations in progress as planned

Last year, Gorenje started an extensive effort of restructuring the Group's manufacturing operations in order to boost profitability and improve competitiveness. To date, the entire cooking appliance plant has been relocated from Finland to Czech Republic while activities of shifting the entire washing machine and dryer plant from Sweden to Gorenje's central production site in Velenje are in progress. This summer, Gorenje will proceed to relocate the dishwasher facility from Sweden to Velenje where production is scheduled for launch in September. When all restructuring activities are completed, Gorenje will be producing home appliances only at three locations: in Slovenia, in Serbia, and in Czech Republic.

Gorenje shifted the majority of the cold appliance production program to the two new factories in Valjevo: production of built-in refrigerators and freezers, and upmarket free standing appliances remains in Velenje.
