Gorenje is the general sponsor of Slovenian Nordic Ski Teams. Together, they have seen great achievements at the most prominent world cup competitions. They are proud of numerous medals, which in turn contribute to the distinctiveness of the Gorenje brand across our markets, year after year. In this season the far most successful nordic sportswoman is Petra Majdič.

Gorenje is the general sponsor of the handball club Gorenje Velenje in Šaleška valley where Gorenje's main production complex and headquarters are located; the club has already over 50-years tradition. The handball club proudly carries the name of Gorenje Velenje, a company whose support and faith in the club success enabled it to become a professional sports club, and its launch among the stars of Slovenian handball.

Their goal of the season 2008/2009, to become N°1 in the Slovenian national league, have been achieved. This season they were also playing in the European Cup 2008/09 Championship of European Handball Federation (EHF), where they achieved 2^nd place.

Gorenje has at the beginning of the school year 2008/09 contributed the activity of the institution Sport & Media, occupied with spreading values of sport, health and preserving natural environment and promotion of sport and sports activities across Slovenia, especially between young. The institution will organise over 100 performances Let's act conscious in the next two years across schools in Slovenia. The concept of performances enables young viewers to develop new attitude towards the culture of particular countries, moral values, health and preservation of natural environment, opening new cognitions on human greatness, inner power, declining, and experiencing sport defeats and successes. The institution has since 2002 when founded, organised over 300 performances for over 41.000 viewers.
