For the 14^th year, Gorenje is the general sponsor of Slovenian Nordic Ski Teams. Together, we have seen great achievements at the most prominent world cup competitions. We are proud of numerous golden medals, which in turn contribute to the distinctiveness of the Gorenje brand across our markets, year after year.

Bormio, March 14^th, 2008 – Petra Majdič, far most successful Slovenian ski runner in the history of this sport, has won the little Crystal Globe for the best World Cup sprint results in the season 2007/08. She has won until now six gold medals and all together she stood on the victory steps for the 16 times. At the World Cup competition in Sapporo 2007 she won her first silver medal in classical sprint technique, which was the first Slovenian medal in ski running at the big competitions. In this year’s season she continued with her excellent tempo and won 3 sprint gold medals and at the last sprint match in Bormio she won, with the high ranging on the 5th place in the sum total of ski running sprints in the season 2007/08 a little Crystal Globe.

Ljubljana, March 27^th, 2007 – Upon the end of a very successful cross-country skiing season 2006/07, Petra Majdč joined today the press and the Slovenian Ski Pool Team in the Gorenje Sales and Exhibition Centre in Ljubljana for a pleasant sociable evening. She donated a pair of her skis to Gorenje and the Manager Association, to be sold at a charitable auction. For 16 years, Gorenje has also been the general sponsor of the local handball club from Velenje - city where Gorenje has it's main production complex and headquarters; the club will celebrate its 50^th anniversary this year. The handball club proudly carries the name of Gorenje, a company whose support and faith in the club success enabled it to become a professional sports club, and its launch among the stars of Slovenian handball.

Gorenje has in season 2006/07 signed a sponsorship of a French football championship Coupe de la Ligue. Before that Gorenje was a sponsor of the first league team OGC Nice, all the way from the season 2003/04. For Gorenje this sponsorship is above all an opportunity to considerably improve the distinctiveness of its brand in this area, through football, which is the most popular sport in France.
