Gorenje donated 21 trees to the citizens of Velenje on the Earth Day
Velenje, April 22nd, 2008 - On the occasion of the international Earth Day, Gorenje donated to the citizens of Velenje 21 trees gingko biloba for the reviving of the square Titov trg. By organising the tree planting event with participation of Mr. Franjo Bobinac, Gorenje’s CEO and President of the Management Board, Mr. Srečko Meh, Mayor of the City Municipality of Velenje, and Ms. Nina Zbičajnik, a pupil of the Gustav Šilih Primary School from Velenje, Gorenje is encouraging inhabitants of Velenje to take environmentally responsible actions.
The Earth Day event symbolically introduced environment-friendly activities that Gorenje is going to perform in 2008, stressing that contribution of each person is indispensible for the preservation of the planet. Two books entitled Ecofamily – Environmentally Friendly Operation in Order to Preserve the Planet and Ecofamily – Help the Planet with the Informed Behavious, have been published within the initiative of the Eco Family, whereas Gorenje’s employees issued an internal Eco Manifesto declaring that they will be more environment-friendly.

Velenje, April 22nd, 2008 – To commemorate the Earth day Gorenje presented for the first time the Eco Family initiative to the public. The aim of the initative is to motivate individuals to change their wasteful habits, to introduce energy-efficient technology in their homes, and to seek alternative options. By establishing the Eco Family initiative, Gorenje is extending the framework of thinking about the agents of efforts for a cleaner environment; in addition to asking what I can do as an individual or employee, it seeks to answer how we as society can contribute. Gorenje proposing the initiative of a new energy label
Velenje, January 31st, 2008 - As a member of the European Committee of Domestic Equipment Manufacturers (CECED), Gorenje proposed the introduction of a new, open-scheme system of labeling household appliance energy efficiency. Modern household appliances produced by European manufacturers have developed to a stage where the existing energy label with its scale has become inadequate. Updating the scheme on the label intended to inform the consumers of appliance energy efficiency, is therefore imperative; European manufacturers have already combined their efforts in the new label introduction project called "Beyond A".
