First "Gorenje Velenje" victory in the Handball Champions League

On Sunday, 11 October, Gorenje handball players took the first set of points in this year's Champions League competition, playing in the domestic Rdeča dvorana in front of the home fans. They defeated the "Bosna" team with 30:29 (15:17) after hard and cumbersome match, with the goal scored by Adnan Harmandić 20 seconds before the final buzzer.

Home coach Mr. Ivica Obrvan commented the dramatic and evenly balanced match: »We played in front of domestic fans for the first time after nearly four months. This left a visible burden on players. We were conspicuously nervous, the right offensive position was notably defective with the absence of Datukašvili and Cehte. Fortunately, the end brought two points with the golden goal in the finish of the game«.
This first victory in the Champions League before home fans had regained the necessary confidence and boosted self-respect of Gorenje handball players. The Bosna team was considered a dangerous opponent, which was proven right. Each ball was critical, and the game was decided in literally the last seconds of the match.

On 7 November RK Gorenje Velenje players are playing the fourth game in the Champions League. In the home arena in Velenje they are hosting the "Veszprém" handball team from Hungary.
