Gorenje donated for education in Serbia
Gorenje donated on May 19 and 20 two work desks for performing exercises in electrotechnics and machine engineering to two secondary technical schools in Stara Pazova and Valjevo in Serbia. The learning tools of total worth of EUR 17.000 were made especially for this occasion by the Inter-Company Training Centre Velenje (“Medpodjetniški izobraževalni center”).
Gorenje is happy to invest into the local community as it firmly believes that by organising charity activities it contributes to the better life quality of locations, on which it operates. Gorenje’s philosophy in the Serbian market is clear: It does not want only to sell its products but also to help develop education. Gorenje aims at integration in the local environment by respecting its corporate values and business philosophy. Following the successfully projected international cooperation between Slovenia and Serbia Gorenje continues to listen to the needs of the community, from which it is inseparable.
Cooperation with local schools is part of Gorenje’s business policy that has been exercised also in Serbia. The students in Valjevo and Stara Pazova were thrilled over the new acquisitions and thanked Gorenje for the trust it showed them by donating them work desks. By using the new learning tools the students will be able to build up their theoretical knowledge with practical exercises whereas the teachers will be able to visually present different topics.
Gorenje organised on occasion of the donation of the work desk in Valjevo also The Open Door Day for the students of Technical School and Business College, inviting them to have a get-to-know tour of the factory facilities, where fridge-freezers have been manufactured since 2006.

Gorenje’s presence in Serbia is marked by two factories and a well developed distribution network and after sale service. Gorenje launched in 2006 the production of fridge-freezers in Valjevo. Over 800.000 appliances have been sent to European markets since then. Most of them - 52 percent - have been produced for the markets of the European Union and 42 percent for the markets of Ex-Yugoslavia. The company Gorenje Tiki has been manufacturing water heaters in Stara Pazova since last year producing 700.000 water heaters in its first year of operating in Serbia. This year the production of 150.000 water heaters is planned; half of them will be sold in Serbia.
