Philip Alexander Sluiter – born in 1963 in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, lived in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles from 1965 – 1980. In 1986 he graduated in mechanical engineering and business science from the Technical Academy in Enschede, the Netherlands. In 1989 he graduated on the Technical University of Twente obtaining a Masters degree in Science; information technology   and business management.

He started his career as a project manager in the packaging industry with the multinational Continental Can Company. After 3 years he decided to become an entrepreneur, financially supported by the ABNAMRO Bank,  and acquired a wholesale company in coffee machines and the business was transformed from a wholesale company into a professional customer oriented  R&D  company having its own manufacturing. He fully utilized the competences of the ETNA factory. The production being outsourced to mainly Italian, Korean and Taiwanese manufactures and by the end of 1999 the turnover was increased by 500% with an attractive net profit.

During 1997-2001 Mr. Sluiter acquired various activities and companies which were mainly experiencing severe performance problems, including the household appliances business of  ATAG & Pelgrim in the Benelux markets. During 2001-2003 he restructured ATAG & Pelgrim  and integrated it with the ETNA household appliances business into a strong market oriented  company with 3 complementary positioned brands, highly skilled R&D, specialized in gas-technology and co-development with 47 suppliers across the world.
 
Till January 2006 he divested all his financial interests and  focused on ATAG Europe’s activities which were sold in June 2008 to Gorenje in which he became a major shareholder .

He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Technical University of Twente, member of  the Supervisory Board of an investment fund specialized  in early stage high-tech companies (“Techfund“), president of the Supervisory Board of an investment fund specialized in management buy outs (“TIIN Buy out Fund”) and the president of the Hockey-club of Arnhem.
